The FedEx St. Jude Championship has been a PGA Tour event since 1967, when it was called the Westchester Classic. It was played at Westchester Country Club from 1967 to 2007. Since 2007, it has been the first event in the FedExCup playoffs and has rotated among courses in the New York, New Jersey and the Boston areas.
During this time, the tournament has had several different names: Barclays Classic, The Barclays and The Northern Trust. In 2021, the tournament was renamed the FedEx St. Jude Championship for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (the tournament’s designated charity) and was relocated to TPC Southwind in Memphis, TN.
About TPC Southwind
TPC Southwind plays at just over 7,200 yards as a par 70. From 1988 to 2018 the course hosted the St. Jude Classic, a regular PGA Tour event played earlier in the season. The course record is 61, recorded by Jay Delsing (1993), Bob Estes (2001) and Tom Lewis (2020). The lowest tournament score is 17-under, a record set by Hideki Matsuyama in 2024. This will be the fourth year this course hosts the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Who to Watch at the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship
The field has 69 of the top 70 players in the FedExCup points list—only Rory McIlroy will not be playing, a controversial move he made in order to rest and prepare for the final two playoff events. After this event, the top 50 players on the FedExCup Playoff list will move onto the BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club.
Look for Russell Henley to be near the top of the leaderboard this week. He has four top-10 finishes in his last four starts and 9 top-10 finishes this season. He has also finished twice in the top-10 at TPC Southwind.
