At the 2025 Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown event, we’ll see 8 teams made up of players from the LPGA Tour competing for their countries in a team event. The event will take place over four days at the New Korea Country Club in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea.

The Crown Invitational, played every two years, began in 2014; Team Spain won in Maryland. 2018 is the first time the event was played overseas, coincidentally in South Korea, where the home team won. This is the first year a World Team will be included in the lineup.

A fun gala precedes the event. At this year’s festivities, local K-pop dance crew BUMSUP performed.

How Do You Qualify for the International Crown?

Seven countries – determined by the top-ranked players after the 2025 KPMG PGA Women’s Championship – and one World Team set the stage for the International Crown. The top four players on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings from each qualified country following the 2025 AIG Women’s Open automatically qualify for the event. The players’ rankings also determine the country’s seed going into the event.

What Is the Format of the International Crown?

The first three days of the event will be contested in the fourball format, or best ball. This is a version of match play where two players from the same team will compete against a pair from another team. Everyone plays her own ball individually, and the best score among the pair goes up against the other pair’s best score to determine who wins the hole.

After earning points for three days, the top two teams from each pool will advance to the semifinals on Sunday morning, which will include two singles matches and one foursomes match. The first team to earn two points will advance to the finals.

The final match (and the consolation match for third place) will be played Sunday afternoon again as two single matches and one foursomes match.

Pool A:

  • U.S. (1)
  • Australia (4)
  • Thailand (5)
  • People’s Republic of China (8)

Pool B:

  • Japan (2)
  • Republic of Korea (3)
  • Sweden (6)
  • World Team (7)
