The TOUR Championship has been the final event of both the PGA Tour season and the FedEx Cup playoffs since 2007. The top 30 players on the FedExCup points list compete to win the cup, $10 million and a five-year exemption to the PGA Tour.
From 2019 to 2024, the tournament used a starting strokes format to ensure the winner of the tournament would also be the winner of the FedEx Cup. That meant the player’s position on the FedExCup points list determined how many strokes the player would start with. Starting in 2025, the tournament will be played with everyone starting at even par.
About East Lake Golf Club
East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, GA, plays just over 7,400 yards long as a par 70. The TOUR Championship has been played here since 2005. The 1963 Ryder Cup and 2001 United States Amateur Championship were also held at East Lake Golf Club. The course record is held by Zach Johnson, who shot 60 (-10) during the 2007 TOUR Championship.
In 2023, golf architect Andrew Green restored East Lake to the course’s original Donald Ross look. Over the years, other renovations caused the course to lose elements Ross featured. Green changed the bunkering, tees, fairways and green to add to the landscape of the property and to better connect to the urban surroundings of the community.
Who to Watch at the 2025 TOUR Championship
The field consists of the 30 top players from the 2025 season. We think Scottie Scheffler will come out on top and win the FedEx Cup in back-to-back seasons. Coming off a win last week and a T3 at the first playoff event, Scheffler is in good form.
