The Wyndham Championship has been played since 1938, making it the seventh-oldest PGA Tour event excluding the Majors. The tournament has always been played at Greensboro area golf courses: Forest Oaks Country Club, Starmount Forest Country and, most recently, Sedgefield Country Club.
One of the tournament’s most historic moments came in 1961, when Charlie Sifford became the first African American permitted to play in a PGA Tour-sponsored event in the south. This is the final regular season event and the last chance for players to qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs.
About Sedgefield Country Club
Sedgefield Country in Greensboro, NC, plays at just over 7,100 yards as a par 70. The tournament record score was set by the 1999 champion Jesper Parnevik at 23-under. The course and tournament low round score was set by 2007 champion Brandt Snedeker when he shot a 59 in the last round in 2018. It is one of two events on the PGA Tour regular season scheduled to be played on a Donald Ross design.

The field includes 10 previous winners of this event— Aaron Rai, Tom Kim, Kevin Kisner, J.T. Poston and Snedeker are just a few of them. Look out for North Carolina native Ben Griffin this week.
