The LPGA Tour concludes its Asian swing this week at the Blue Bay LPGA. The event will be held at Jian Lake Blue Bay Golf Course in Hainan, China. This is the eighth playing of the Blue Bay LPGA, with the tournament being played at Jian Lake Blue Bay Golf Course all eight times.
Japan’s Rio Takeda looks to defend her title after her runaway victory last year, winning by six strokes.
Jian Lake Blue Bay Golf Course is a par 72 playing 6,712 yards. The tournament’s purse has increased by $100,000 to $2.6 million.
Who to Watch at the 2026 Blue Bay LPGA
This week, Ruoning Yin is the only player in the top 10 of the Rolex Rankings to play in this tournament. The highest-ranked golfer from the People’s Republic of China has five career wins since joining the tour in 2022. After a winless 2025, Yin is searching for her first victory since the 2024 Maybank Championship. Yin said rankings don’t mean much to her.
“I have good memories of playing here in Blue Bay, but I don’t put much importance on rankings. I just want to learn from the last two years in Thailand and Singapore and do my best this year,” she said.
Last year’s winner, Rio Takeda, looks to build on a successful season, where she accumulated $2.9 million in earnings. Takeda also had eight top 10s in 30 starts last season. After a strong season from Japanese golfers last year, Takeda said it gave her belief coming into tournaments.
“There are many Japanese players on the American tours who would perform well and even won majors. Watching them gave me confidence that I could do well,” she said.
2025 Ladies European Tour Rookie of the Year, Mimi Rhodes, finished inside the top 10 in her first start on the LPGA Tour as a member last week at the HSBC Women’s World Championship. She is in the field this week, looking for her first win on the LPGA Tour.
