The second major of the 2026 season is the PGA Championship, hosted at Aronimink Golf Club. The PGA Championship was first played in 1916 as a match play event but became a stroke play event in 1958. In 2017, the tournament was moved from late August to early May to support the addition of golf in the summer Olympics. The field consists of 136 PGA Tour professionals and the top 20 PGA Golf Professionals from the PGA Professional Championship.
In last year’s PGA Championship, Scottie Scheffler won his third career major by defeating a trio of golfers by five strokes.
About Aronimink Golf Club
Aronimink Golf Club plays 7,394 yards as a par 70. The golf course most recently hosted a PGA Tour event in 2018, when Keegan Bradley won the BMW Championship. It went on to host the 2020 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Gary Player has also won a PGA Championship at Aronimink in 1962.
There are more than 170 bunkers on this property, but the defense of the course is its greens. The putting surfaces have ridges that cut through the greens to create unique and difficult hole locations. Four players have shot the course record of 62 (-12) during the 2018 BMW Championship, including Tiger Woods and Tommy Fleetwood.
Who to Watch at the 2026 PGA Championship
The field for the 2026 PGA Championship is loaded with past winners – 14 to be exact. Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Keegan Bradley and Scheffler are just a few notable competitors. Including the PGA Championship winners, there are 36 major championship winners in the field.
Pádraig Harrington sticks out as one of the competitors as not only a two-time major championship winner (PGA Championship and The Open), but he is also one of three Ryder Cup captains (2021) in the field and the only Hall of Famer (2024).
Like Tessa Teachman said in her episode of “The Teacher and The Pro,” we predict Cameron Young will win his first career major this week. Already having two wins this season and finishing T3 at the Masters makes him one of the favorites heading into the week.
