The Valspar Championship started in 2000 as an opposite-field event (or alternative) in the late summer. The tournament became a full-field event in 2003 as the precursor to the Tour Championship.
This is the last event of the Florida swing for the PGA Tour this season. Four different players have won this tournament multiple times, with the latest being Sam Burns, who went back-to-back in 2021 and 2022.
In the 2025 Valspar Championship, Viktor Hovland defeated Justin Thomas by one stroke to earn his seventh career PGA Tour title.
About the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club
The Copperhead Course plays at 7,352 yards as a par 71. The last three holes of the course are referred to as the “Snake Pit.” It includes two difficult par 4s with a long par 3 between them. The course record is held by Padraig Harrington, who shot 61 (-10) in the first round of the 2012 event.
Who to Watch at the 2026 Valspar Championship
Hovland will look to defend his title against a field that includes Jordan Spieth, Keith Mitchell and Gordon Sargent. We expect Corey Conners to pick up his third career PGA Tour win. He is coming off a T13 finish at The Players Championship last week and has T16, T21 and T8 in his last three starts here.
