William Mouw defeated Paul Peterson by one stroke to win the ISCO Championship. This is Mouw’s first career win in just his 20th start on the PGA Tour.
Paul Peterson held a one-stroke lead after a third round that had multiple delays, with players having to finish on Sunday morning. Kris Ventura and Luke List were at 7-under in a tie for second behind the PGA Tour rookie Peterson. The 36-hole leader, Chan Kim, struggled during the third shooting a 5-over round of 75 to drop him to a tie for fourth. Mouw was in a tie for 25th at 1-under after three rounds.
Mouw came out hot on Sunday, birdieing his first three holes. He also made two more birdies on the 7th and 8th hole to shoot a front nine score of 30. On the back nine, he started strong again, birdieing three of his first four holes. He would birdie the 17th hole to get to 9-under with one hole to play. A par on the last hole gave him a round of 61 (-9) and his first PGA Tour win.
Mouw’s 7-stroke comeback ties as the largest final round comeback since 2023 when Jon Rahm won the 2023 Sentry. With this win, Mouw becomes the third rookie to win on tour this season and the tenth first time winner.
The British Open at Royal Portrush is next on the schedule. Along with the final major of the year, we’ll also see the Barracuda Championship being played in California next week.
