Scottie Scheffler has a four-shot lead heading into the final round of the 153rd Open Championship. Hao-Tong Li is in second at 10-under par and Matt Fitzpatrick is in third at nine-under.
After the opening nine holes on Saturday, Scheffler held a two-shot lead over Fitzpatrick. Scheffler shot 3-under going out after an eagle and birdie on the seventh and eighth holes. Fitzpatrick bogeyed the first hole but then chipped in for eagle on the second hole, ultimately shooting 2-under on the opening nine holes to get to 11-under par.
Scheffler shot 1-under on the back nine to get to 14-under. His bogey-free round is the first time since Shane Lowry in 2019 that the 36-hole leader did not make bogey during the third round. Fitzpatrick shot a 2-over 37 on the back nine.
Li will join Scheffler in the final pairing on Sunday after shooting a 2-under par 69 Saturday afternoon.
Scheffler is three for three closing out majors when he has the 54-hole lead. The last nine times he has had the outright 54-hole lead, he has gone on to win.
The round of the day belonged to Russell Henley, who shot a 6-under 65. Lee Westwood tied the lowest back nine score in a round at The Open with his 6-under 29 on Saturday.
John Parry made a hole-in-one on the par-3 13th hole. It is the 26th hole-in-one made at The Open in the last 40 years.
The leaders will tee off Sunday morning at 9:30am ET.
