The LPGA Tour hosts its final event in the Northeast this weekend at the FM Championship. This is the second ever playing of the tournament, and it will take place at TPC Boston.
Korea’s Haeran Ryu will look to defend her title after defeating Jin Young Ko in a playoff in the inaugural FM Championship last year.
TPC Boston is a par 72 playing 6,533 yards. The course has hosted multiple PGA Tour events with the most recent one being in 2020.
Who to Watch at CPKC Women’s Open
After her strong start to the season, Haeran Ryu has cooled off since then. However, the world number ten secured a T7 finish at the Standard Portland Classic and is playing at a course she has previously won. She had this to say on her mindset going into this week.
“Yeah, I try to just keep it the same as last year because this course’s greens are not too big and the rough is a little bit longer than on other golf courses in the U.S,” she said. “I just try to keep it straight in my shot and keep it in the fairway, keep it on the green. That’s a good goal for this week maybe.”
A player to watch this week is Ariya Jutanugarn. She has six top tens in 14 starts this season. Last year, Ryu had a similar run with eight top tens coming into the tournament.
2025 U.S. Women’s Amateur champion, Megha Ganne, is in the field this week after receiving a sponsor’s exemption. Ganne is currently in her senior year at Stanford University and aims to pursue a career in professional golf after this year. She had this to say on the golf course this year.
“I think, yeah, it rewards a good ball-striker, but it’s going to come down to who makes the most putts at the end of the day, which I guess is most tournaments. I like the Northeast style of golf and the tree-lined look suits my eye.”
