Alex Noren defeated Adrien Saddier on the first playoff hole to win the BMW PGA Championship in England.
Noren and Saddier were tied at 15-under after three rounds. European Ryder Cup teammates Tyrrell Hatton and Viktor Hovland sat two and three shots back of the leader, respectively.
Noren had a one-shot lead after shooting a one-under par 34 on the front nine. Saddier made birdie on the 10th, joining Noren at 16-under atop the leaderboard. Both players made birdie on the par-5 12th to move to 17-under. Noren took the lead with a birdie on the 13th hole, but Saddier answered with a birdie on the 14th to tie the lead. Each player made birdie on the 17th hole to head to the 18th hole tied at 19-under.
Both players missed their birdie putts, and for the second week and second year in a row, the winner would be decided in a playoff.
After good drives, both Noren and Saddier hit poor second shots to leave them with chip shots over a little creek. Saddier hit his chip shot well past the hole while Noren hit his to under five feet. Saddier missed, and Noren made his putt for his 12th career DP World Tour Win.
This is Noren’s second time winning the BMW PGA Championship, the first time being in 2017. This is his second win in his last three starts on the DP World Tour. He won the Betfred British Masters at the end of August.
The next event on the DP World Tour is the FedEx Open de France. Dan Bradbury will look to defend his title.
