American Michael Kim defeated Elvis Smylie and Jeong Weon Ko by one shot to win the 2025 FedEx Open de France. This is his first professional win since the 2018 John Deere Classic.

Heading into the final round, Brooks Koepka and Min Woo Lee were atop the leaderboard at 11-under. They had a one-shot lead over three players tied for third.

Marcus Armitage tied Koepka atop the leaderboard at 15-under after his birdie at the 10th hole. But his bogey on the 14th dropped him a shot back of the leader. Koepka lost his lead after bogeying the 15th hole while Ko made a 22-foot eagle putt to take the lead at 15-under. Kim and Smylie tied Ko after each made birdie on the 16th hole. Kim took a one-shot lead to the 18th hole after birdieing the 17th hole.

Kim did not make it easy on himself on the final hole. He pulled his tee shot left into the greenside bunker, leaving himself with a tough bunker shot. He left himself with a 16-foot par putt to maintain his one-shot lead. His putt moved left to right slightly and just dripped into the hole on the right side for par and the clubhouse lead. Koepka and Lee failed to make birdie on the 17th hole leaving themselves to need to ace the par-3 18th hole. Neither player did, leaving Kim alone atop the leaderboard at 16-under.

Kim became the fourth American to win the Open de France and first since Barry Jaeckel in 1972. This is Kim’s first career win on the DP World Tour. He is coming off his best FedExCup finish of his PGA Tour career at 31st where he had four top-10 finishes.

The next event on the DP World Tour is the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship the first weekend of October. All eyes will be turned to New York and Bethpage Black next week for the 2025 Ryder Cup
