The LPGA Tour is down to the penultimate tournament of the season at the ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican. This is the last chance players have to get crucial points in the Race to CME Globe before the 60-player Tour Championship next week. The tournament will be played at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida.
World number two Nelly Korda looks to defend her title after she claimed her seventh win in 2024 here last year.
Pelican Golf Club is a par 70 playing 6,349 yards. The tournament’s purse has remained the same since 2024 at $3.25 million.
Who to Watch at the 2025 ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican
Two notable names not in the field this week are world number one Jeeno Thitikul and three-time major winner Minjee Lee.
Nelly Korda is searching for her first win of the season this week after an overall successful season. Although she has not won a tournament this year, Korda has made the cut in all 17 of her starts this season and has eight top 10s with two runner-ups. Korda has three wins in the last four years of this event. During that span, she is 53 strokes under par, 13 strokes better than the next-best golfer, Lexi Thompson. Korda says her environment helps her play her best.
“I just kind of feel comfortable out here. I think just having my family and friends in the crowd, and this is kind of the turf that I grew up on, so there is also that level of comfort,” she said.
Korda is one of many talented golfers in the field this week, with names like Lottie Woad and Miyu Yamashita looking to win another tournament this season.
The ANNIKA has gained even more popularity this week with WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark in the field in the pro-am. Kai Trump, the granddaughter of United States President Donald Trump, was granted a sponsor’s exemption to enter the field this week. Trump is committed to the University of Miami for college.
Nelly Korda had this to say on Trump being granted a sponsor’s exemption this week.
“I think it’s a great learning opportunity for her if she is serious about the game of golf. There is no better way to test your game than to play alongside the best players in the world. It will be a nice and fun experience for her, I’m sure,” she said.
