The Grant Thornton Invitational pairs an LPGA Tour player and a PGA Tour player together on a two-person team. The 16-team field competes in a three-day tournament in which each day is a different format.
The first round is played as a traditional scramble and the second round an alternate-shot format. The third round is a modified four-ball format, where each player tees off and then they switch balls for their second shot and play that ball to the hole.
The lower score between partners is that team’s score on the hole. This is the third year of this event, which was won by Jason Day and Lydio Ko in 2023 and by Jake Knapp and Patty Tavatanakit last year.
About Tiburon Golf Club
Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, FL, plays as a par-72 at just under 7,400 yards. Greg Norman designed this course to have a links-style feel with stacked sod wall bunkers. This is also the venue of the CME Group Tour Championship, the season finale on the LPGA Tour.
The 18-hole tournament scoring record was set by Tony Finau and Nelly Korda, when they shot a 56 in the opening round of the 2023 event. The 72-hole scoring record was set by Knapp and Tavatanakit last year when they won with a score of 189. The foursome scoring record was set last year by Tom Kim and Jeeno Thitikul when they shot 64 in the second round. The modified four-ball scoring record is 60, set by Ludvig Aberg and Madelene Sagstrom in 2024.
Who to Watch at the 2025 Grant Thornton Invitational
The field features multiple major champions from both tours. We predict the young players Luke Clanton and Lottie Woad will come out on top. Both players are former No. 1-ranked amateurs in the world who have just started their professional careers and are former college teammates from Florida State University. Woad won in her first start on the LPGA Tour, while Clanton is still looking for his first professional win.
