Patrick Reed defeated Calum Hill by two strokes to win the 2026 Qatar Masters. This is Reed’s second DP World Tour victory in his last three starts, with his last win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
Reed and Hill faced off last weekend as well at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, both losing in a playoff to Freddy Schott. At the Qatar Masters, Hill had to settle for his second consecutive runner-up finish.
Reed held a two-shot lead over Jacob Skov Olesen heading into the final round but saw that lead disappear early after dropping a shot on the par-4 second hole. He struggled on the front nine, going out with 37 and losing his lead.
Oliver Lindell took the lead from Reed after birdieing the 11th hole, but he made two consecutive bogeys starting on the 12th hole. While Lindell was dropping shots, Reed birdied the 10th and 11th holes to regain control of the tournament.
Hill made a charge on the back nine with a chip-in eagle on the 10th hole and four straight birdies starting on the 14th hole. He set the clubhouse lead at 14-under after a par on the 18th hole.
Reed made one more birdie on the 14th hole, giving him a cushion to play a little more conservatively down the stretch. He shot a two-under-par 70 in the final round to secure his fifth career DP World Tour win.
Reed’s recent run of success has moved him to 25th in the Official World Golf Rankings, ahead of players like Sam Burns, Shane Lowry and Patrick Cantlay. He now sits first in the Race to Dubai rankings and is well on his way to earning his PGA Tour card for the 2027 season.
Reed had this to say about his superb play over the last couple of weeks: “This little run I’ve had, two wins and a second, it’s awesome. We couldn’t ask anything more than what we did. It’s special to come out here, especially to get two wins early on in the season, and hopefully there’s a lot more to come.”
The DP World Tour heads to Kenya next week for the Magical Kenya Open, presented by Absa. Last year’s champion Jacques Kruyswijk will look to defend his title against a field that includes Thirston Lawrence, Jayden Schaper and Hill.
