The 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur opens up a realm of possibilities each year. Will the winner go on to win a major on the LPGA Tour? Win an NCAA Championship? Come back for another chance to hoist the trophy?
Fairway to Green is onsite this week, so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on social for the latest storylines.
Contributor Annie Watson does a fantastic job diving into where each winner is now in the reel below.
Spoiler: there are two returning champions in the field this week: Tsubasa Kajitani (2021) and Anna Davis (2022), the youngest to have won this event at 16 years old.
Who to Watch at the 2026 ANWA

In addition to the returning champions, we also have world no. 1 Kiara Romero ready to take on the competition this week – and every week.
“I wouldn’t say they are expectations, but I would say I try not to put any limits on myself and try to believe that I can really go out there and do anything,” said Romero. “I think it’s really important to go into every tournament knowing that you can win. Just really believing that and trusting yourself and trusting all of the hard work that you put in and all the experience that you have. It’s been great these last few months.”
2024’s runner-up Bailey Shoemaker is also aiming for the winner’s circle this week, especially after she worked so hard to overcome her cubital tunnel release surgery, which decompresses the pressure around the ulnar nerve in the elbow.
“I’ve changed so much as a golfer, as a person, dealing with a lot of adversity in the last year especially,” said Shoemaker.
“But my game is transformed. I’m a lot longer now, which is nice. Yeah, just so much more of a well-rounded person and golfer.
“I think long hitters historically have done well here,” said Shoemaker. “I just think having shorter irons in where you have a little bit more spin is pretty ideal.”
There are honestly too many amazing players here to note all of them (see the field list below), but a few more we’ll point out are Asterisk Talley, last year’s runner-up, recent winner of two events and a participant in last week’s LPGA event, the Ford Championship, and Megha Ganne of Stanford.

Ganne is returning to ANWA for the 6th time. In fact, the entire Stanford team (8 players!) is here, which just speaks to the program’s caliber and Coach Annie Walker’s eye for talent and development opportunities. Four players are currently on the team, while four players are committed to play at Stanford, including Talley. Ganne shot the 18-hole tournament record last year, a 63 (-9).
What the ANWA proves every year is that the future of women’s golf is bright. Alumni of this event have gone on to win 73 LPGA Tour and LET tournaments, 6 of which are major championships.
