Relatively unknown South African golfer Yurav Premlall won the 2026 Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship, defeating Shaun Norris by 14 strokes for his first career win. This was an unexpected victory, coming just a week after he missed the cut in the Turkish Airlines Open by nine strokes. The 14-stroke victory is the largest winning margin for a first-time DP World Tour victory.

Premlall had already built a five-stroke lead before heading into the final round. He shot rounds of 64 (-8) on Friday and 63 (-9) on Saturday to take control. His 63 during the third round earned him $50,000 for the course record, presented by Nexo.

The South African then turned his five-stroke lead into a 12-stroke lead after a 6-under-30 on the front nine. From there, he made back-to-back birdies on the 12th and 13th holes to stretch his lead to 14 strokes, bringing him within reach of Tiger Woods’ 26-year-old record for largest winning margin on the DP World Tour at 15 strokes. His bogey on the 14th was only his fourth bogey or worse during the week.

Premlall closed out his final round with back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes to shoot another 63 (-9). To put his victory margin in perspective, had Premlall only played on the weekend, he still would have won the golf tournament by four strokes. With this win, he leaps to 26th on the 2026 Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World, up from 157th.

In his post-round interview, he said: “I’m just so grateful, so it’s a dream come true. I’ll start with my mum—at least it’s a Mother’s Day present so happy Mother’s Day, Mum!”

Next week, the DP World Tour heads to Pennsylvania for the 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club. Scottie Scheffler will look to defend his title against a field that includes Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose.
