The LPGA Tour will play its second and final event in Michigan this week at the 2026 Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. The tournament will be held at Blythefield Country Club in Belmont, MI.
After last week’s Dow Championship, which featured teams of two competing in best ball and alternate shot, this week will be the standard 72-hole stroke play format. This is the 12th edition of the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give, and it has been played at Blythefield Country Club every year. Defending champion Carlota Ciganda will look to defend her title after her one-shot victory over Hye-Jin Choi last year.
Blythefield Country Club is a par 72 playing 6,611 yards. It was designed by William B. Langford and Theodore J. Moreau and opened in 1929. The purse for the tournament is $3.25 million, with the winner receiving $487,500.
Who to Watch at the 2026 Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give
With the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship being held next week at Hazeltine National Golf Club, some of the top players on the LPGA Tour will not be in the field this week. The most notable absence from the field this week is world number one Nelly Korda. After a T17 finish with Olivia Cowan last week, she will take the week off to prepare for the third major of the year. Other top players missing this week are Hyo Joo Kim, Charley Hull and Ruoning Yin.
Although a few players are missing from the tournament, the Meijer LPGA Classic will still have a strong field this week. Ten of the top 25 players in the Rolex Rankings are in the field.
World number two Jeeno Thitikul is one of those players. Thitikul is searching for her third win this season after she won the Honda LPGA Thailand and defended her title at the Mizuho Americas Open. Still searching for her first major title, Thitikul talked about what she wanted to see this week in preparation for next week.
“What I want to see is just like I want to confirm myself that my ball is still on track, like my shot is still on track; the putter is getting better; the short game is still there, and then better… I think I always work on everything in my game. There’s always room for improvement every day, I would say; not just a week or a year,” she said.
Defending champion Carlota Ciganda is in the field as well. Ciganda has had an up-and-down start to her season, making the cut in five of nine starts and finishing in the top 12 in three consecutive starts in May. She has always had success at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give, finishing in the top 10 five times in eight starts. Ciganda was happy to be back at this tournament.
“Yeah, it’s a special place for sure, especially after winning last year. It’s a place that I’ve always said reminds me of back home, Spain. Everything, the course, the trees, the grass. It’s always been very comfortable for me playing here,” she said.
Other notable players in the field this week include Hannah Green, Miyu Yamashita and Lottie Woad.
