The 2026 Rocket Classic is the penultimate event of the 2026 PGA Tour regular season. The players have this week and next to improve their rankings in the FedExCup points lists. At the end of next week’s Wyndham Championship, the top 70 players in the FedExCup standings will qualify for the first event of the playoffs.
Detroit Golf Club has hosted the previous seven editions of the Rocket Classic. Bryson DeChambeau, Rickie Fowler and Tony Finau are some of the notable winners of this event.
Last year, Aldrich Potgieter won in a playoff for his first career PGA Tour win.

Detroit Golf Club plays 7,328 yards as a par 70. Over the last year, the course has gone through a major renovation that tried to restore the strategic vision of architect Donald Ross. The most notable change is the course now plays as a par 70, whereas it used to be a par 72. Two par-5 holes from last year have been converted to long par-4s. Seven new bunkers were added, and every green was restored to the original Ross shape.
Last year’s champion Potgieter had this to say about the changes made to the golf course: “I played the front nine this morning. It’s definitely playing a lot longer. They moved a lot of tee boxes back and obviously some different greens out there. I’m excited. It looks really nice with the fescue grass as well around some of the bunkers. Yeah, I really like the changes and I think it’s going to suit me even more.”
Jake Knapp holds the course record of 61 (-11), which he shot last year during Round 2.
Who to Watch at the 2026 Rocket Classic
Potgieter will look to defend his title against a field that includes multiple major championship winners and four top-10 players in the Official World Golf Rankings. 2026 3M Open Champion Jackson Koivun and Jordan Spieth will make their debut appearances at the Rocket Classic. Golf Influencer Brad Dalke received one of the four sponsor exemptions, making this his fourth career PGA Tour start and first since the 2017 U.S. Open.
We predict Ryan Gerard will earn his second career PGA Tour victory. Coming off a top-10 finish at the 2026 Open Championship, his ball striking and putting ability will handle the redesigned course well.
