The European Solheim Cup team will try to win back the Cup on home soil as the matches begin Sept. 11 at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands.
Europe hasn’t lost at home since 2015 but fields a team with four rookies. Its 12 players were shut out of the majors this year, while American star Nelly Korda won two.
Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist is the captain, freshly retired from a standout playing career that included nine consecutive Solheim Cup appearances through Europe’s defeat last time out in Virginia. She had a 17-15-3 record.
Meet the European Solheim Cup Team
Here’s a look at the 12 European players:
Charley Hull
The popular Englishwoman is making her eighth Solheim Cup appearance at age 30 and has only had a losing record in one of them, going 1-2-0 in 2023 when Europe retained the Cup after a 14-14 tie. She won earlier this year on the Ladies European Tour at the PIF Saudi Ladies International.
Esther Henseleit
The 27-year-old German and silver Olympic medalist, who lost a playoff at the AIG Women’s Open to Japan’s Shiho Kuwaki, is making her second appearance. She was 1-1-1 in 2024 in Virginia including 1-1 in two foursomes matches with Hull.
Lottie Woad
The 22-year-old is a rookie but figures to have many of these in her future; she won the LPGA Kroger Queen City Championship in May and is Europe’s top player in the world rankings at No. 7.
Maja Stark
One of two Swedes on the team, the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open champion is making her third appearance and has a 3-3-2 record.
Celine Boutier
The native of France picked up her seventh LPGA win in May at the ShopRite LPGA Classic and makes her fifth appearance with a 7-6-1 record.
Carlota Ciganda
The oldest player on either team at 36, the Spaniard matches Hull with seven previous appearances. Her record is 12-11-4.
Linn Grant
The team’s other Swede along with Stark, Grant won The Annika last November on the LPGA Tour. She’s making her third appearance and will hope for a better showing than the 0-4 mark she posted in 2024.
Nanna Koerstz Madsen
The first Dane to win an LPGA event, Madsen returns to the Solheim Cup for the first time since 2021, where she posted a 1-1-1 record.
Leona Maguire
The first Irishwoman to win an LPGA event, Maguire was a captain’s pick thanks to three previous appearances with an excellent 8-3-1 record, including a 4-0-1 debut in 2021.
Julia Lopez Ramirez
The Spaniard was the No. 1 amateur in the world just two years ago and makes her Solheim Cup debut as a captain’s pick.
Nastasia Nadaud
The 21-year-old French rookie and captain’s pick is the youngest on either team; she won last November on the Ladies European Tour.
Mimi Rhodes
The 24-year-old Englishwoman earned a captain’s pick behind three wins last year on the Ladies European Tour.
