CEO and Founder Blake Callaway launched Astral Putters after realizing how narrow the putter market had become. His love of restoring old putters gave way to offering golfers a solution of adjustable putters. Callaway attributes the brand’s success to his father’s involvement; Charles’ title is “Can-Do Specialist.”
By following the self-guided fitting models on Astral Putters’ website, golfers can adjust everything from the lie angle to the toe hang and shaft offset of their putters, giving them several customization possibilities.
Fairway to Green’s Nathan Rarick had the opportunity to talk with their Head of Marketing, Ryan Kelly.
Nathan Rarick: What inspired you to found this company?
Ryan Kelly: The company and product stemmed from our founder, Blake Callaway, becoming frustrated from the lack of options and adjustability available on the golf market when shopping for putters. Golfers have two primary choices when picking a new putter: buy a putter off the rack and pray that it works for you or invest in a putter fitting and hope that the numbers you receive during the fitting will actually translate to the course. We feel strongly that golfers shouldn’t have to settle for these options.
Our clubs allow you to custom fit your putter to achieve the highest performing configuration to match your natural putting stroke. We want the putter to adapt to you and not the other way around. We launched Astral at the 2024 PGA Show, and this year we are excited to unveil our full mallet putters, which will be added to the lineup alongside the blade and mid-mallet (double- wide) putters.
NR: What style of putter is best for an amateur golfer?
RK: All golfers are a little different. There is not a one-size-fits-all approach to putting. One benefit of our club is that amateur golfers have the ability to grow with the club as they continue to improve and learn the wonderful game of golf. As you manipulate and alter the way you putt, you can do the same to our putters to consistently achieve superior performance and results on the course.
NR: Can you talk about the technology and interchangeable parts in your putters?
RK: The quick pitch is our putters feature a patented modular hosel design, which allows any golfer to get over 60 different club configurations out of a single putter. Each of these configurations has varying amounts of toe hang and shaft offset. As you adjust the club, you can counteract your typical misses by getting the putter’s club face to close earlier in your putting stroke or stay open longer.
NR: Where do you see Astral Putters going next?
RK: We are excited to continue building momentum in the golf space. We are always looking for golfers of all skill levels to try out our clubs and experience the feel and performance gains you receive from playing an Astral Putter. This is why we offer a 30-day risk-free return policy.
