Ben Griffin defeated Chad Ramey and Sami Valimaki by two shots to win the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship. This is Griffin’s third win of his career and the season.
Garrick Higgo took a one-shot lead over Carson Young after tying the course record during the third round. He was the third player this week to shoot an 11-under-61, joining Nick Dunlap and Valimaki who shot the same in round one. Three golfers, including Ben Griffin, were at 20-under and two-shots behind Higgo after three rounds.
Higgo and Young each birdied the first hole of the final round. Young birdied the fourth hole to tie Higgo at the top of the leaderboard at 23-under. Both players made birdies on the sixth and eighth hole to get to 25-under and stay tied going to the back nine. Griffin made his move up the leaderboard with a 4-under-32 on the front nine to get him one shot behind the leaders.
The back nine started with Higgo and Young making birdies on the 10th hole. Griffin took the lead at 27-under after making five consecutive birdies starting on hole eight. Young tied Griffin at 27-under after making birdie on the 12th hole but bogeyed the 13th and 15th holes to fall two shots behind. Higgo’s double bogey on the 12th hole dropped him three shots behind the leader. Griffin birdied the 18th hole to get to 29-under and set the clubhouse lead. Ramey shot 7-under and Valimaki shot 8-under during the final round to finish tied for second at 27-under.
Griffin joins Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler as the only PGA Tour players with two or more wins this season. Higgo finished tied for fourth, making it four straight starts that he finished seventh or better. With these finishes, he has played himself into the first two signature events of next season via the AON Next 10. The AON Next 10 are the golfers ranked 51-60 in the FedExCup fall standings. Higgo started the fall season ranked 99th but has moved to 52nd thanks to his stellar play.
The Butterfield Bermuda Championship next week is the penultimate event in the PGA Tour fall season. Rafael Campos is the defending champion and will be in the field that also includes Matt Kuchar, Luke Clanton and Sahith Theegala. This is one of the last opportunities for players to earn FedExCup points to secure their PGA Tour card for next season.
