Scotland’s Calum Hill secured his second DP World Tour win at The Joburg Open following a three-man playoff at the Houghton Golf Club.
Hill started the final round with a score of 6-under and climbed to the top of the leaderboard after shooting a 62 to finish at 14-under-par on the par-70 golf course. He made 10 birdies and two bogeys.
South Africans Shaun Norris and Jacques Kruyswijk later joined the leaderboard to force a playoff. Norris, who started the round with 14-under, shot even to maintain his score despite back-to-back bogeys on the first two holes and a double bogey on the 12th. Kruyswijk shot 4-under to move up.
The three golfers parred the first playoff hole. Kruyswijk and Hill found the fairway from the tee box on the second playoff hole, but Norris landed in the bunker and then hit into the water to finish with a double bogey.
Kruyswijk’s next shot landed on the left side of the green. He ultimately bogeyed the hole by three-putting. Hill, who parred the hole, was officially the 2025 Joburg Open winner.
“It’s awesome. A little bit surprised there, I thought we were having to go again [to another play-off hole],” Hill said. The 30-year-old, who also won the Cazoo Classic in August 2021, is the first Scot to win the Joburg Open.
Though it was a loss to the hosting country, South Africans held the top positions. Coming in fourth with a score of 13-under par was Dylan Fritelli. He was closely followed by fellow South African Daniel Von Tonder, who shot 12-under to take fifth.
