Perrine Delacour shot 14-under to win the Investec South African Women’s Open. She opened her final round with a bogey on the first and made pars from the second to the fifth hole, before bogeying the sixth hole, bringing several players into contention.

However, she charged back with two critical birdies on the back nine, allowing her to claim her second win on the Ladies European Tour.

“I didn’t start the way I wanted to. I didn’t know how many players were coming up behind me. I was just trying to stay focused on my own game. I made a great birdie on 15, which was playing very hard, and then another birdie on 16. Coming down 18, I knew I was leading, but I didn’t know by how many shots, so on 18 I just wanted to hit the green and make par,” said Delacour after the win.

The French golfer was excited for the win and plans to keep playing on the LPGA Tour and LET this season.

“It’s been great to win again after a rough start to my year. I’m really happy because I sometimes struggle mentally and this proved I can win on tour even when not leading after nine holes, or being tied after nine holes. I trusted myself and got it done, so I’m pretty happy about that.”

South African Casandra Alexander shot a final round of 66, coming in second at 12-under, but she didn’t go home trophyless. Because the Sunshine Ladies Tour ended with this tournament, Alexander emerged as the overall Invested Order of Merit winner.

Joining her in the winner’s circle was Kaiyuree Moodley, who claimed the R&A Rookie of the Year Award. Gia Raad held the Jackie Mercer Award for the leading amateur.
