Nelly Korda defeated Amy Yang in the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions after the weather caused event organizers to cancel play on Sunday. Lake Nona Golf and Country Club faced temperatures below freezing into the morning, which is uncommon for Florida. This is Korda’s first victory since her seven-win 2024 season. She finished with a dazzling 64 (-8) during the windy and cold conditions on Saturday.
After high winds delayed the conclusion of round three on Saturday, the LPGA Tour released multiple statements on the schedule of play on Sunday. In a puzzling decision, the celebrity tournament was scheduled to continue Sunday morning on the same course, while players were scheduled to wait until at least 1 pm. Just before the time players were supposed to tee off, the LPGA Tour released this statement on the tournament.
This is Korda’s 16th win of her career and first since The Annika in November of 2024. She had this to say after her season-long drought.
“Yeah, golf is a game of centimeters. You know, there were so many times last year where I wished I had an inch here or a centimeter there, where it would’ve changed the story completely,”
Korda also made it clear she supported the LPGA’s decision to cancel play on Sunday.

“Listen, I think the LPGA is always going to do what’s best for the players. When it comes to the internal decisions, I like to focus on myself and prepare for what’s to come with the information that I have at hand,” she said.
With her win, she earned $315,000 and 500 points in the season-long competition, Race to CME Globe. She moved into first place to start the season. Korda’s next scheduled event on the LPGA Tour comes at the Fortinet Founders Cup in March.
On the celebrity side, Mardy Fish won by 5 Stableford points. Fish is a retired professional tennis player. You may remember him from winning the silver medal for Team USA at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
The LPGA Tour is off for the next two weeks to prepare for the tour’s stretch in Asia. The next tournament is the Honda LPGA Thailand from February 19-22, 2026.
