Predicting the Major Winners of the 2025 PGA Tour Season

Who will win the major championships this year on the PGA Tour?

The 2025 PGA Tour season is about to hit the majors. Each one of the major championship venues will test the players ability and mental fortitude. Is this the year Rory McIlroy ends his major drought? Does Scottie Scheffler go back-to-back at the Masters? Will a LIV player win a major? It’s time we find out.

The Masters: Augusta National Golf Club, April 10-13th

Entering this tournament, Scheffler will be the favorite after capturing his second green jacket in 2024. The last person to win two Masters in a row was Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002.

But we predict another major champion from 2024 will win the 2025 Masters: Xander Schauffele. He has had great success at Augusta with four previous top-10 finishes in his last six starts. After winning two majors last year, he has all the confidence in the world and a game that yields good results at Augusta National.

PGA Championship: Quail Hollow Club, May 15-18th

The PGA Championship is returning to Charlotte, NC, for the first time since 2017. That week belonged to Justin Thomas, who won his first major with a score of 8-under-par. The Truist Championship, a PGA Tour event usually played at Quail Hollow, will be moved to the Philadelphia Cricket Club to preserve the course for the second major of the year.

High-profile players have won here in the past including McIlroy, Max Homa and Wyndham Clark. To win here, you have to drive the ball long and hit fairways.

We predict Ludvig Aberg will break through for his first career major win at the 2025 PGA Championship. In his young career, Aberg has finished second at the Masters and starred for the European Ryder Cup team in 2023. He is at his best when the lights are the brightest and is not fazed by the pressure.

U.S. Open: Oakmont Country Club, June 12-15th

Defending champion Bryson DeChambeau will look to repeat history at Oakmont Country Club. The U.S. Open was last played here in 2016 when Dustin Johnson won his first career major. In 2016 there were only four players under par and another two at even par.

To win here the players will need to avoid mistakes and convert the opportunities when they get them. We predict Patrick Cantlay will finally get rid of the title of best golfer without a major and win the 2025 U.S. Open. After seeing Schauffele win two in 2024, Cantlay has some extra motivation to catch his friend in major titles. Don’t be surprised when the leader on Sunday wins with a score of 3-under-par or lower.

The Open Championship: Royal Portrush Golf Club, July 17-20th

Irishmen Shane Lowry won the Open Championship at Royal Portrush in 2019 for his first career major win. Rory Mcilroy has a chance to avenge his horrendous showing from 2019 and come out on top in his home country.

But we predict it will be a different European Ryder Cup player who will take home the claret jug. Tommy Fleetwood will be crowned Champion Golfer of the Year at Royal Portrush. In 2019, Fleetwood finished second behind Lowry and has two other top-10 finishes in the Open Championship. Along with his success at The Open, Fleetwood has top-5 finishes at the other three majors as well. Fleetwood has a silver medal, has played on two winning Ryder Cup teams and has 7 DP World Tour wins – all that is missing is a major championship.
