Protect Your Skin With These Sun Protection Golf Brands

Club Professional Nicole Budnik shares the latest styles for women's golf apparel with the best sun protection.

Sun protection has been a huge focus for women’s golf in recent years. There are many LPGA players that wear sun sleeves, and some have started sporting long-sleeve sun shirts.

At first, I wasn’t a fan of wearing a long-sleeve shirt, especially in the middle of summer, but after trying a few out, I realized they do help keep you cool. Here are some of the top sun protection-styled shirts in the market this summer.

Top 3 Women’s Golf Apparel Brands for Sun Protection

Golf Professional Nicole Budnik shares her favorite styles. As a Texas native and current club pro there, she knows all the best – and stylish – ways to help us protect our skin from the excessive heat this summer.

Pick #1: IBKUL Golf Shirts

My top pick would be IBKUL’s Hot Pink/Candy Pink Naomi Long-sleeve Mock shirt. This shirt is bright, colorful and gives a summery vibe. This color is offered in short-sleeve, sleeveless, crew neck long-sleeve and mock long-sleeve with a price point around $90-$105.

What I love most about IBKUL shirts are they have 50+ UV protection, are made with a super soft material, offer multiple fun patterns, are easy to swing in and can be worn on and off the course. I am a Golf Professional at a club in Texas, and all my ladies just love IBKUL!

Pick #2: Sport Haley Golf Shirts

Another brand that offers a ton of fun designs for sun protection shirts is Sport Haley. This brand isn’t just sun protection-specific; it offers many colorful short-sleeve, sleeveless and long-sleeve shirt options.

I recommend the Temp Long-sleeve shirt for your sun protection option with this brand. The Tempo Long-sleeve mock is made with a soft material like IBKUL and offers mesh under the sleeve to keep you cool. It also has 50+ UV Protection and retails for $101. The Tempo Long-sleeve Mock shirt in Pink Leopard is a subtle but bold style print in a pretty light pink color. It is also paired with the Ginny Skirt and looks super cute together.

Pick #3: FootJoy Women’s Golf Shirts

If you want a more toned-down basic sun protection shirt, then FootJoy’s Long-sleeve Sun Protection Shirt would be a good option. This style shirt is offered in 8 to 10 basic colors this summer. The bright styles are not an over-the-top style like you may see with IBKUL. It is made from a moisture-wicking breathable type fabric with anti-microbial technology that keeps odors away when sweating. It also has 50+ UV protection, is easy to swing in and has a price point of $88.

There Are Always Sun Sleeves

If you aren’t a long-sleeve shirt type of girl but still want your arms protected, then sun sleeves might be the alternative. The following 2 brands provide functional and stylish sun sleeves that can be paired with any golf outfit already in your wardrobe.

Pick #1: J.Lindberg Sun Sleeves

First is J.Lindberg’s Aylin Sun Sleeves. This sleeve is offered in Aruba Blue, White, JL Navy and Almond Milk. The material is 88% polyester, 12% spandex, UV 50 protection, moisture-wicking and engineered with rapid dry technology. These specific sleeves retail for $40. Besides the Aylin sleeves, J.Lindberg also offers the Bridge Sleeves, Max Sleeves and Soraya Sleeves.

Pick #2: Solbari Sun Sleeves

Second is the UPF50+ Sensitive Collection Arm Sleeves from Solbari. These sleeves are offered in 7 different colors and retail for $35. The material is made with UPF 50+ protection, 50% Viscose from Bamboo, 41% from Cotton and 9% Elastane. These sleeves are soft, gentle and are great to wear for people with Eczema or other sensitive skin issues. This brand also offers other sun protection shirts, t-shirts and products.

What About Sun Protection Golf Pants?

Now that we have covered sun shirts and sun sleeves, let’s talk about coverage on the legs. I’m not a fan of wearing a long-sleeve shirt and pants unless it is winter, but a lot of women want the full sun protection coverage. The following brands offer cool and lightweight pants to wear all year long.

Pick #1: J.Lindberg Women’s Golf Pants

First, I would suggest J.Lindberg’s Pia Pant. This pant is offered in 7 colors, retails for $165 and sizes run from 25-32. It is made with a water-repellent and quick-drying material that is lightweight, breathable and PFC Free (which means these shirts are environment friendly). The Pia Pant in the Wax Yellow color option is a nice light summer color.

Pick #2: FootJoy Women’s Golf Pants

Second, is FootJoy’s Lightweight Ankle Pant. This pant retails for $125 and is offered in 5 different colors. These pants are made with a performance-woven fabric that is lightweight. It has multiple pockets, a rib knit waistband and is easy to golf in. From personal experience, these golf pants are breathable and very comfortable to golf in.

Nowadays, most golf clothing brands have SPF50+ shirts. The brands mentioned were some of the picks I have chosen that offer functional and stylish sun protection options. If your favorite golf clothing brand wasn’t mentioned, it doesn’t mean they don’t offer sun protection options.

Skin cancer is a big issue in the world, so protecting your skin is very important when golfing for many hours each day. If you haven’t already, start dressing to protect your skin, and look cute in the process!
