Scottie Scheffler has a one-shot lead over Matt Fitzpatrick after two rounds of play at the 2025 Open Championship. Hao-Tong Li and Brian Harman sit two shots back of the leader at 8-under.

Scheffler’s eight birdies in today’s round tied a career high in a major championship; he also has this stat from the 2020 and 2025 PGA Championships.  His round of 64 (-7) today was the lowest round of the day and his lowest career round in any major. With a win, Scheffler will have completed three of the four legs of the Career Grand Slam.

Fitzpatrick came into the clubhouse at 9-under overall. He also made eight birdies today, including four birdies in row to start the back nine. After a rough start to the year, Fitzpatrick is trending up after back-to-back top-10 finishes in his last two events.

The 2023 Open Champion, Harman, started quickly today with two birdies on his first two holes. He made four more birdies to shoot a 65 (-6) to take the clubhouse lead after the morning wave.

Li then matched the clubhouse lead after a four-under 67. He is looking to become the first player from China to win a major. Li’s first and only bogey through two rounds came on the 14th hole on Friday.

Bryson DeChambeau, who shot 78 (+7) during round one, turned it around today, shooting a 65 (-6) to make the cut on the number at 1-over.

Some notable major champion winners who didn’t make the cut are Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa, Cam Smith and Adam Scott.
