Scottie Scheffler won the 107th PGA Championship by five strokes over Harris English, Davis Riley and Bryson DeChambeau. His five-shot win is the largest margin of victory in a PGA Championship since Rory McIlroy won by eight in 2012. This is Scheffler’s third career major win and first PGA Championship title.

Scheffler held a three-shot lead over Alex Noren after 54 holes of play at Quail Hollow.

He then shot a two-over-par 37 that shrank his lead to one shot over Jon Rahm. As Scheffler sat on the 10th fairway, Rahm tied the lead at nine-under after birdieing the 10th and 11th holes. Scheffler then birdied the 10th to take a one-shot lead with 8 holes to play.

Scheffler took control of the tournament with birdies on the 14th and 15th holes to pick up a five-shot lead over JT Poston. After Rahm hit his tee shot on 17 in the water, he dropped six shots back of Scheffler, effectively ending his chance at a third career major. Scheffler ended up playing the “green mile” at one-over-par to win by 5 strokes.

“I’m just really proud of the way we fought this week,” Scheffler said after receiving the Wanamaker Trophy. “I was battling my swing for the first couple days. It was a real team effort this week. I’m proud of the whole squad, and I’m looking forward to celebrating this one.”

With this win, Scheffler joins Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only players with 15 PGA Tour wins, including three majors before the age of 29. In each of Scheffler’s major wins he has won by three strokes or more.

The next stop for the PGA Tour is Texas for the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club. Last year’s champion Davis Riley will look to defend his title.
