Day five of the NCAA D1 Women’s Championship began the first day of match play. The Quarterfinals round saw 8 teams paired off into four matches:

  • Stanford (#1) vs. Virginia (#10)
  • Florida State (#4) vs. Southern California (#9)
  • Northwestern (#11) vs. Arkansas (#2)
  • Oregon (#5) vs. Texas (#6)

The first matches of the day were Stanford (#1) vs. Virginia (#10) and Florida State (#4) vs. Southern California (#9). While UVA came out firing, Stanford regained control of the first match and won 3.5-1.5. Freshman Andrea Revuelta had an outstanding match, beating Virginia’s Rebecca Skoler 5&3.

Going off the back nine, Florida State also had a dominant showing against Southern California. Junior Lottie Woad for the Seminoles put on an impressive performance, defeating Jasmine Koo 4&3; ANNIKA Award winner Mirabel Ting also defeated Xin (Cindy) Kou 5&4. This big victory for the Seminoles meant they were heading into the Semifinals to play Stanford (#1).

The second batch of the Quarterfinals tee times saw Northwestern (#11) vs. Arkansas (#2) and Oregon (#5) vs. Texas (#6). Northwestern players Elise Lee and Hsin Tai Lin, both freshmen, had outstanding performances. Elise Lee started the match with a big lead over Arkansas’s Reagan Zibilski, winning her match by one hole. Hsin Tai Lin matched up against Maria Jose Marin, the champion of the individual portion of the tournament, and won 3&2. The Wildcats upset the Razorbacks 3-2, advancing them to the Semifinals in the afternoon.

The No. 6 Texas Longhorns fell short to the Oregon Ducks 3-2. Texas is just one of the four schools to make the 54-hole cut in each of the last five seasons at the NCAA Championship. The Longhorns had a great 2024-2025 season, winning three tournaments and having students Farah O’Keefe and Lauren Kim, both sophomores, earning First Team All-SEC honors. Cindy Hsu kicked off the match-play round with four birdies and a victory of 1 up over Oregon’s Suvichaya Vinijchaitham.

Oregon (#5) will be competing against Northwestern (#11) in the Semifinals.
