Thriston Lawrence defeated Rasmus Hojgaard, Sami Valimaki and Matt Wallace by two strokes to win the Omega European Masters in Switzerland.

After starting his final round one shot back of Wallace, Lawrence quickly got into trouble with bogeys in his first three holes. After pars in the following two holes, Lawrence played the remaining 13 holes at 7-under-par. The highlight of the round was his massive drive on the par-4 sixth, which he capped off with an eagle.

After qualifying for the European Ryder Cup team last week at the Betfred British Masters, Hojgaard tied the lowest round of the day with a 62 (-8). Possible Ryder Cup selection and member of the winning team two years ago in Rome, Matthew Fitzpatrick, finished inside the top ten again this week after his final round of 67 (-3). In the last two months, Fitzpatrick has once again shown the world what made him a major champion.

Lawrence earned €473,432.83 in prize money after his victory at the Omega European Masters. He also garnered 835 points in the season-long competition, Race to Dubai, moving up 79 spots into 19th place.

The DP World Tour will continue next week at the Amgen Irish Open at The K Club in Kildare, Ireland. Hojgaard will look to defend his title after his win at Royal County Down Golf Club last year.
