Tommy Fleetwood defeated Patrick Cantlay by three strokes to win the 2025 TOUR Championship. This is Fleetwood’s first career win in his 164th career start on the PGA Tour.
Cantlay and Fleetwood were tied atop the leaderboard at 16-under. Russell Henley was in third at 14-under with Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley in fourth at 13-under.
Fleetwood made the turn at 18-under after making three birdies and a bogey. His birdie on the second hole was the only one on that hole in the final round. He had a three-shot lead over Cantlay and Henley heading to the 10th tee.
The back nine started with a bogey for Fleetwood and a birdie for Cantlay. Fleetwood’s lead dropped to one, but his two birdies on the 12th and 13th holes put him up by three again. A bogey on the 15th hole would leave him with a two-shot lead and three holes to play. Cantlay bogeyed the 16th hole. Two pars on the 17th and 18th holes would secure Fleetwood’s first career win and the FedExCup title.
Fleetwood has come close to breaking through with his first career win on the PGA Tour. The seven-time DP World Tour winner lost at the Travelers Championship this June by one shot and was in the lead at the first FedExCup Playoff event with three holes to play but missed the playoff by one shot. Before this tournament, Fleetwood had 30 career top-five finishes and made over $33 million in his career. He joins fellow Englishman Justin Rose as the only two players from England to win the FedExCup.
“I’ve been a PGA Tour winner for a long time, it’s just always been in my mind, a lot of close calls, but I’ve always enjoyed the challenge,” Fleetwood said after the win.
The next event on the PGA Tour is the Procore Championship starting September 11th. This is the first event in the FedExCup fall season. Patton Kizzire will look to defend his title against a field that will have several members of the U.S. Ryder Cup team.
