The LPGA Tour concludes its continental United States swing until November with the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G this week in Rogers, Arkansas. This is the 19th edition of the tournament, which has been held at Pinnacle Country Club since 2007.
Jasmine Suwannapura will look to defend her title after her victory in a playoff over Lucy Li in last year’s tournament.
Pinnacle Country Club is a par 71 playing 6,438 yards. The tournament’s purse will remain the same as last year at $3 million.
Who to Watch at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship
This season on the LPGA Tour, no player has won more than one time in 25 events. Although there have been no multiple-time winners, the leaderboards have some of the same names towards the top. Minjee Lee has six top 10s and Jeeno Thitikul has four runner-ups this season.
A player to watch this week is Nelly Korda. The former world number one is searching for her first win this season. Korda has made every cut so far this season and has finished inside of the top 10 seven times.
Last year’s winner, Jasmine Suwannapura, is also searching for her first win on tour this season. It has been a difficult season for Suwannapura so far, with her best result being a T27 at the Black Desert Championship presented by Greater Zion. A recent change in the golf ball could be what she is searching for this week.
“I changed back the ball and the club last week, which I see a lot of positive from last week, because I can see now that it’s going back to normal for me. I hit a little baby draw, made a lot of birdies last week. There were some mistakes I made last week, which happens, but overall the game was more positive than last week as I used the same set last year and the same ball that I used before,” she said.
