The DP World Tour is back in action after a three-week break for the 2026 Danish Golf Championship. This is the 12th edition of the tournament and its first time at the Great Northern Golf Course, located on Denmark’s third-largest island.
The Danish Golf Championship is the country’s biggest sporting event of the year, and the largest golf tournament in all of Scandinavia. This is also the fourth of five events on the closing swing, the last of five global swings in the 2026 DP World Tour season.
In the 2025 Danish Golf Championship, Marco Penge defeated Rasmus Hojgaard by one stroke for his second of three wins last season.
About Great Northern Golf Course
The Great Northern Golf Course plays 7,314 yards as a par 72. This Jack Nicklaus design is built on the rolling hills of the coastal town of Kerteminde, featuring artificial lakes that come into play on nine different holes. By far, the most challenging stretch of the course comes on Nos. 13-15, as the par 4s have tricky water hazards.
Who to Watch at the 2026 Danish Golf Championship
Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, Rasmus Højgaard, Niklas Nørgaard and Jacob Skov Olesen are the top Danish golfers in the field, with the latter ranking the highest in the Race to Dubai rankings at No. 23. Former major champions Bubba Watson and Henrik Stenson are teeing it up as well.
We predict Rasmus Højgaard to win the National Open for the second time in his career. In 2023, he beat Nacho Elvira in a six-hole playoff to become the first Danish golfer to win this event. He finished second last year and finished fourth two weeks ago at the Rocket Classic on the PGA Tour.
“I think one of the key things is that there are certain holes where driving is super important,” said R. Højgaard. “You’ve got quite a bit of water in play out here. But then there’s not much penalty in the rough. I think it’s fairly forgiving of the tee, but certainly being able to hit a lot of greens out here would be a big thing.”
