The LPGA Tour plays its first and only event in Malaysia this week at the 2026 Maybank Championship. This is the fourth edition of the tournament, which has been held at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club all four years. The Maybank Championship is a 72- hole, stroke play event with no cut.
Last year’s winner Miyu Yamashita is in the field this week to defend her title after her win in a three-way playoff last year.
The West Course at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club is a par 72 playing 6,536 yards. The golf course, which opened in 1991, was designed by Sime Darby Property Berhad, a Malaysian real estate developer. The purse for the 2026 Maybank Championship is $3 million with the winner receiving $450,000.
Who to Watch at the 2026 Maybank Championship
Ten of the top 25 players in the Rolex Rankings are in the field this week, with Haeran Ryu and Yamashita at the top of that list. All three past champions of this event are also in the field.
Celine Boutier, the winner of the first Maybank Championship in 2023, is looking for her second win of the season. Boutier won the ShopRite LPGA in May and has finished inside of the top 15 three times since then. She was also a part of the winning European team at the Solheim Cup.
“I was able to get a win this year. I feel like my game has been a bit inconsistent throughout the season, so it was fun to get some good results,” she said. “Hopefully trying to do my best to have a good ending to the season and hopefully the last few tournaments.”
Charley Hull is playing in her first LPGA Tour event since the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G. Hull is looking for her first individual victory on the LPGA Tour this season. Her best finish was runnerup to Nelly Korda at the U.S. Women’s Open in June.
