Shane Lowry wins the Amgen Irish Open by a record-setting 11 strokes. This is Lowry’s second win at his National Open; the first was in 2009 when he was still an amateur.
The Irishman took control of the tournament, setting a course record in round two with a 62 (-8). Entering the final round with a four-stroke lead, Lowry extended it to seven with four birdies in the first nine holes to leave his competitors playing for runner-up.
He is just the fifth person from the Republic of Ireland to win the Amgen Irish Open and first since his last win here in 2009. This victory also brings him to his seventh career win on the DP World Tour. Lowry’s last win on the DP World Tour was the 2022 BMW PGA Championship. He has not won on the PGA Tour since the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans with partner Rory McIlroy. Lowry had a few chances to win this year on the PGA Tour but fell short after poor final rounds.
“I can’t wait to bring a trophy home, my daughter keeps asking ‘when will you bring a trophy home?’. So yes, I can bring one home,” Lowry said.
Race to Dubai leader Patrick Reed finished tied for second with Joaquin Niemann at 12-under. Defending champion McIlroy finished 41st at 3-under.
The DP World Tour heads to England for the BMW PGA Championship. Alex Noren won the 2025 BMW PGA Championship in a playoff with Adrien Saddier. Noren will look to defend his title against a field that has many former major champions in it, including Ryan Fox, Aaron Rai, Jon Rahm and Matt Fitzpatrick.
