Shannon Tan wasn’t expecting a win at the 2025 Hero Women’s Indian Open. In fact, she wasn’t expecting to be in India at all.

After running into issues with her visa, she was suddenly approved and was able to fly in Tuesday night. Tan said, “I played here last year and I’ve really been looking forward to coming back here especially losing by one last year and I was like I know this course suits me, I know I’ve got an advantage here so I’ve been looking forward to this event for a long time and I think to be able to win this week really means a lot.”

Tan’s last round started with her 7 shots off the lead, but after an incredible 67 (-5), she had a chance to overtake clubhouse leader Alice Hewson. Tan thought she needed a birdie on the last hole to put the pressure on Hewson, but her birdie putt just missed. Hewson ended up double-bogeying the hole after an errant tee shot, giving Tan the win.

Tan said, “This course quite suits me in terms of being a ball striker and being able to hit it quite straight and accurate and I think it’s played a huge part for me this week. My ball striking hasn’t been that far off compared to the past three days and it’s just the putter was really hot today, I made more putts than the past two days.”

With this win – Tan’s third on the LET this season – she takes over the lead on the LET Order of Merit, pushing Mimi Rhodes to second in the rankings.

Tan adds, “It’s good progress to be number one on the rankings. I have been trusting the process this whole season and there are still three events to go, so I will give it all I can.”

India also had some hometown stars to root for in the field this week. Hitaashee Bakshi finished in solo third this week after leading after round two.

“This is all I wanted, there were so many people coming out to watch and I have received so many messages and so much love,” said Bakshi. “These kids shouting my name and it didn’t matter if I was making a double bogey, they were saying you could do it. It was amazing.”

India’s Pranavi Urs was also near the top of the leaderboard in a tie for fourth place.

The LET continues in two weeks at the Wistron Ladies Open in Taiwan.
