The first major of the LPGA Tour season is here. The Chevron Championship will take place this week from April 23-26, 2026. The tournament will be held at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas.
This is the 55th playing of the tournament and the first at Memorial Park Golf Course. Mao Saigo will look to defend her title after winning a five-player playoff last year at The Club at Carlton Woods.
Memorial Park Golf Course is a par 72 playing 6,811 yards. The tournament’s purse has increased by $1 million to $9 million this year.
Who to Watch at the 2026 Chevron Championship
The field at the Chevron Championship is especially strong this week, featuring 11 past champions and all of the top 25 players in the Rolex Rankings. Two players will have the opportunity to complete their Career Grand Slam this week – Minjee Lee and In-Gee Chun.
Lee’s brother, Min Woo Lee, plays on the PGA Tour and won the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open on this very golf course. He shared his support of his sister on social, reminding us how great of a duo they are. She responded, “I have quite great support wherever I go, and it’s nice to have a little extra, especially at a major championship.”
However, the three players at the top of their game over the past few weeks are Nelly Korda, Hannah Green and Hyo Joo Kim. Green has won four times over the last two months, with wins at the JM Eagle LA Championship and HSBC Women’s World Championship on the LPGA Tour this season. Green said she feels great going into this week.
“I feel like I’m still somewhat on cloud nine… I definitely have a lot of confidence in my game. It’s been a really crazy, I guess, last five, six events that I’ve played. Obviously, every time you come to a tournament you want to win, have the trophy in your hand; actually doing it has been very surreal. I’m just going to try and ride this wave for as long as possible,” she said.
Korda has made four starts this season and has not finished outside the top two at all. She won the first event of the year, the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, in January. Last year, Korda came in as the world number one. This year, Korda said she is focused on golf.
“If I’m being honest, I’m just coming in, trying to play golf, trying to contend. I’m not really thinking about what other people are thinking of me, what my past results were. It was a different golf course, different weather, everything was different,” she said.
“But like when it comes to my expectations of this week, my expectation is to hit the first shot on Thursday and see how it goes.”
The third name to watch this week is Hyo Joo Kim. Kim lost to Saigo last year as part of the five-player playoff. Kim won back-to-back weeks at the Fortinet Founders Cup and the Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass.
