The LPGA Tour plays its first and only event in Canada this week at the CPKC Women’s Open. This is the 52nd edition of the CPKC Women’s Open, which has been held at 31 different courses since 1973. This year’s event will be held at Royal Mayfair Golf Club for the third time.

Canada’s Brooke Henderson is in the field after her one-stroke victory over Minjee Lee last year at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club.

Royal Mayfair Golf Club is a par 70 playing 6,452 yards. The golf course was designed by J. Munro Hunter and opened in 1922. Along with hosting the CPKC Women’s Open three times, Royal Mayfair Golf Club hosted the PGA Championship of Canada in 1980.

The purse for the CPKC Women’s Open is $2.75 million, with the winner receiving $412,500.

The field for the CPKC Women’s Open will have 14 of the top 25 players in the Rolex Rankings, with eight of the 14 champions on the LPGA Tour. There are 15 Canadian golfers in the field this week.

Anna Huang is in one of the sponsor invitations in the field. The 17-year-old is the youngest four-time winner on the Ladies European Tour and has won this year at the Lalla Meryem Cup and PIF London Championship. Huang is confident coming into this week.

“I think my game is in a pretty good spot right now. I’ve worked really hard this year to get where I am, and I’m just really excited to play amongst the best in the world,” she said.

Another Canadian to watch this week is Henderson. After her win last year at this event, she has carried over her great play with 12 cuts made in 14 starts. Henderson also finished inside the top three at the Amundi Evian Championship and KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She says she prepares for this week similar to a major.

“I think this week is very demanding and it’s a very special week. I look forward to it every year in terms of it being a week that I would love to peak for, just like the other majors out on tour,” she said.

Nelly Korda is in the field looking for her fourth win this season. Other top players starting this week include Miyu Yamashita, Hannah Green and Minjee Lee.
