Joe Dean earned his maiden DP World Tour win on home soil at the Husqvarna British Masters, becoming the tournament’s first English winner since 2021 when Richard Bland won.
Weather delays over the first two rounds at The Belfry forced Dean to play 24 holes on Sunday in blustery conditions. He made 11 birdies Sunday with nine in the final round. His final score of 63 (-9) was the lowest of the week.
“Today was one of the rare days where everything just felt right and the putts were dropping. Almost like I couldn’t do anything wrong,” Dean said.
The Englishman earned his DP World Tour card through qualifying school in 2023 but didn’t immediately play due to a lack of money, so he continued to work as a supermarket delivery driver. During his rookie year, he finished runner-up twice on his way to the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.
Coming into the week, Dean was 74th in the Race to Dubai rankings after only two top-10 finishes. With the win, he moves all the way up to 13th and is in position to earn one of the 10 PGA Tour cards available.
Dean’s caddie is his wife Emily; the couple got married last month on July 21.
“I hope I made her proud. I don’t know. I’m at a loss for words. I think we’re both just really happy and a bit rabbit-in-the-headlights at the minute,” Dean said.
The DP World Tour is off to Switzerland next for the 2026 Omega European Masters. In the 2025 Omega European Masters, Thriston Lawrence defeated Rasmus Højgaard, Sami Valimaki and Matt Wallace by two strokes for his fifth career win. Lawrence will defend his title against a field that includes Casey Jarvis, Haotong Li and Mikael Lindberg.
