Andrew Novak won the 2026 VidantaWorld Mexico Open by five strokes, the largest margin of victory in tournament history. His score of 25-under also set the 72-hole scoring record at the VidantaWorld Mexico Open.
This is Novak’s second career PGA Tour win but his first solo victory on tour. His first title was the 2025 Zurich Championship with Ben Griffin. His 2025 season was the best of his career, with six top-10 finishes that led to his highest-ever FedExCup finish at No. 25. He also won the 2025 Grant Thornton Invitational alongside Lauren Coughlin.
After having missed the FedExCup Playoffs after 84th on the points list and notching only three top-10 finishes, Novak has struggled this season. Part of that can be attributed to his putting compared to last year; entering this tournament, he was 158th in strokes gained putting as opposed to 49th in 2025.
This week, that all changed. He was first in the field of strokes gained putting (8.191) and first in proximity on approach (27’ 2”). He made 53/58 of his putts inside 10 feet and led the field with a total of 456 feet of putts made.
Novak took control of the tournament after back-to-back rounds of 61 (-10) and 62 (-9) to hold a six-stroke lead heading into the final round. He was asked about those two rounds in his post-win press conference. “That’s the best golf I’ve played for 36 holes in my life,” he said. “I was making everything, hitting all my irons perfect, drove it great.”
With the win, Novak earned 500 FedExCup points to move him to No. 53 in the FedExCup Fall standings. He is now exempt for two seasons on the PGA Tour, including the PGA Tour Championship Series in 2028.
The PGA Tour stays in Mexico for next week’s event, the World Wide Technology Championship. In last year’s tournament, Griffin won by two strokes for his third victory of the 2025 season. This time around, the field includes Griffin, Ryan Gerard, Jackson Koivun and Marco Penge.
