The greens were firm and the weather was windy, but that didn’t stop Eugenio Chacarra from turning in three rounds under par to win his first DP World Tour title at the Hero Indian Open. His final round of 71 helped him hold off last week’s runner-up, Keita Nakajima, to win by two.

After leaving LIV Golf in the offseason, Chacarra has made two starts on tour, with his last one coming over a month ago. The Spaniard made his way into the field this week through a sponsor’s invitation. This is his third career professional victory as he earns full status on tour through the next two seasons, along with €354,641.38 in prize money.
A humble Chacarra described the emotions after his final round.
“It was a tough day, we knew it was going to be a long day,” he said. “I think I did a great job all week staying patient.”
Nakajima narrowly missed out on winning again after finishing second to Richard Mansell in last week’s Porsche Singapore Classic. However, he moves into the top ten in points for the season-long Road to Dubai rankings.
The DP World Tour will resume in two weeks at the first major tournament of the year, the Masters. Afterwards, they will go to China for two weeks for the Volvo China Open and the Hainan Classic.
