The 2025 Hero World Challenge is a fan favorite. While not an official PGA Tour event, it is Tiger Woods’ event. And in the Bahamas. So it’s a top event for players and fans alike.

Hosted at the Albany Golf Course, the Hero World Challenge brings together the top players in the world for an event that fundraises for the Tiger Woods Foundation.

In 2021 and 2022, we saw Viktor Hovland win back-to-back. In 2023 and 2024, we saw Scottie Scheffler win back-to-back. Scheffler was in contention for a third victory here but didn’t go low enough in the final round. He and Sepp Straka, who was leading Scheffler by one heading into the final round after a third round of 64, both shot 4-under but still lagged the ultimate leaders by two and one strokes, respectively. Instead, Hideki Matsuyama and Alex Noren surged up the leaderboard with rounds of 8-under.

Matsuyama and Noren tied at 22-under, giving the Hero World Challenge its second ever playoff in the 24-year history of the event. Matsuyama birdied the first playoff hole to win.

While Matsuyama didn’t win this event twice in a row, he did have bookends on his 2025 season, winning the first event in Hawaii – the Sentry – and now this final individual event of the year. This is also his second Hero World Challenge title, his first of which came in 2016.

While the PGA Tour season has officially been over for a couple of weeks, we do have one final event with the LPGA Tour – the Grant Thornton Invitational – December 8-14, 2025, in Naples, Florida. They’ll be competing at Tiburon Golf Club, the same venue as the CME Group Tour Championship. This is a team event where one PGA Tour and one LPGA Tour player pair up, leading to a great opportunity to showcase the players’ skills on a large stage and give the players a fun way to end their season.
