Virginia’s Michael Brennan won the 2026 Wyndham Championship, defeating Beau Hossler by three strokes. The 24-year-old now has two wins in his last 10 starts after also winning the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship.
Brennan started the day tied for the lead with Hossler. He then took control of the tournament by making five consecutive birdies starting on hole four. He never lost his lead, winning for the second time in just his 29th career PGA Tour start.
This marks back-to-back winners who are alumni of Wake Forest, as last year fellow alum Cameron Young earned his first career win at the Wyndham Championship. Brennan becomes the third consecutive winner on the PGA Tour under the age of 25.
The last two tournaments, Brennan has been knocking on the door of a win heading into the final round. In the 2026 3M Open, he was T4 at the start of the final round but shot 74 (+3) to finish T24. Last week at the 2026 Rocket Classic, he was in solo second before shooting a 73 (+3) to finish T15.
This week, he shot a final round 64 (-6) to secure the victory. He entered the week at No. 105 in the FedExCup standings and, with the win, moved up to No. 47 to secure his spot in the FedExCup playoffs. Brennan was the only player to move into the playoffs. Steven Fisk lost his spot in the playoffs, dropping to No. 71 in the standings after missing the cut. Jackson Koivun made the playoffs in spot No. 70.
The FedExCup playoffs start next week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. The top 70 players in the FedExCup points list are eligible to play. In the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship, Justin Rose defeated J.J. Spaun on the third playoff for his 12th career victory at the time.
