Miyu Yamashita went wire-to-wire to win the CPKC Women’s Open by nine shots, tying the LPGA record for low gross score in the process at 257 shots.
Yamashita pulled away from the field quickly and led by five shots after the second round. She added to her lead with a 5-under round of 65 on Saturday to tie the 54-hole scoring record at 191. A 4-under final round capped one of the most dominant performances on tour this season.
Yet even with such a large lead, Yamashita was unable to rest.
“It was a nervous, nervous round, so in my shots and my game, I trusted my swing,” she said.
After winning the 2025 AIG Women’s Open and earning LPGA Rookie of the Year honors, Yamashita has continued her excellent start to her LPGA career. She has nine top-10 finishes in 17 starts, with a win two months ago at the Meijer LPGA Classic.
With her win, Yamashita earned 500 points in the season-long Race to CME Globe and $412,500.
Yuri Yoshida finished as the runner-up for her best finish this season.
“I’m really happy to finish at two… so, six shots, eight shots behind, so I need more practice, I think, yeah,” she said.
Seventeen-year-old phenom Anna Huang finished in T4 this week. After getting into the field as a sponsor’s invitee, she finished as the top Canadian. She earned a spot in next week’s tournament with her result.
“I think always like to make a cut at any LPGA event is really special. And then to play so well as I did this week at the Canadian Open is just really, really awesome,” she said.
The LPGA Tour continues next week at the FM Championship. Miranda Wang is the defending champion.
