Alex Smalley continues to lead the 2026 PGA Championship at 6-under. Five players sit T2, two strokes behind Smalley.
For Smalley, this is his first 54-hole lead of his PGA Tour career. The last three winners of the PGA Championship held at least a share of the 54-hole lead. He leads the field with 17 birdies through three rounds and leads the field in strokes gained putting.
Smalley has never won on the PGA Tour and is looking to be the first American golfer since Shaun Micheel (2003 PGA Championship) to earn their first win at a major. The third round started rough for Smalley after making three bogeys in his first four holes. He finished his round with four birdies in his final six holes to become the 10th player since 1995 to hold the outright 54-hole lead of a major championship despite not having a PGA Tour victory.
The five players tied for second entering the final round is the most entering the final round of a PGA Championship since 1993. Jon Rahm is one of the players tied for second after his 3-under 67 during round three. He is looking to become the first golfer from Spain to win the PGA Championship.
Matti Schmid and Nick Taylor were two of the five golfers that shot the low round of the day of 65 (-5). Both players sit two strokes behind the leader and are looking for their first major championship victory.
Three former major champions sit three strokes behind Smalley. Rory McIlroy shot a 4-under 66 in round three for his 25th major championship round of 66 or better. Xander Schauffele is looking for his second PGA Championship win in three years. He has recorded seven top-10 finishes in nine major championships since 2024. Patrick Reed has only one top-10 finish in 12 PGA Championship starts. His third round of 67 (-3) is his best round in a major championship since the 2022 Open Championship.
The final round gets underway with the first group teeing off at 7:40am ET with Casey Jarvis and Brian Campbell. The final group of Smalley and Schmid will tee off at 2:35pm ET.
