At the Truist Championship, Sepp Straka defeated Shane Lowry and Justin Thomas to capture his second PGA Tour win of the year and the fourth of his career. Straka finished the week at 16-under par while Lowry and Thomas finished at 14-under.

Straka and Lowry were tied for the lead at 14-under after three rounds, while Thomas and Keith Mitchell sat three strokes behind the leaders. Mitchell had led the first two rounds but shot a one-over-par 71 to lose his lead. Hideki Matsuyama shot the round of the day on Saturday with his seven-under 63 to propel him to fifth heading into the final round.

Straka ultimately shot a 2-under 68 to secure the win in Philadelphia. He first took a one-shot lead after making a par on the 16th hole that Lowry had bogeyed. Straka parred the final two holes while Lowry made another bogey, falling two shots behind. Thomas made a birdie on the 17th hole and par on 18 to finish tied for second.

For Straka and Lowry, this is their fourth top-10 finish of the season. This is Straka’s second win of the year, joining Rory McIlroy as the only other multiple-time winner on tour this season. For Lowry, this is the second runner-up finish of the year and for Thomas the third.

“After [the bogeys on 10 and 11], I just told myself just to keep at it, keep just trying to execute each golf shot for what it is. Fortunately, that was good enough,” Straka said following his win.

Next week, the PGA Championship returns to Quail Hollow Club for the first time since 2017. Last time a major championship was played there, Thomas won his first of two PGA Championships. This time, Xander Schauffele will look to defend his title from one of the strongest fields in golf.
