26-year-old Spaniard Eugenio Chacarra won the 2026 DS Automobiles 83 Open d’Italia. This marks his third career victory and second win in a row on the DP World Tour after clinching the 2026 KLM Open earlier this month.
Chacarra defeated Matt Wallace by five strokes, taking control of the tournament with three straight birdies starting on the eighth hole.
Wallace then put the pressure on Chacarra, cutting the deficit to one stroke. Chacarra produced a stunning eagle on the 15th hole to push his lead to three strokes. Wallace faltered late with two bogeys on his final two holes.
The win earned Chacarra a spot in the 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale next month. He is now third on the Race to Dubai Rankings, putting him in a good spot to secure a PGA Tour card at the end of the season.
In regards to qualifying for The Open Championship next week, Chacarra said, “I’m so excited. I’ve never played it there, I dreamed of playing it always. I watched every [Open Championship] on TV since I was little, so I’m excited to be out there. Now it’s time to celebrate and then we can focus on that.”
The Molinari brothers, who were both competing on their home course this week, made some waves this week. Edoardo, who opened with a 63 in the first round, finished T48 at 7-under while Francesco missed the cut.
Next week on the DP World Tour is the BMW International Open in Germany. Last year, Daniel Brown claimed his second career victory on the DP World Tour. He will look to defend his title against a field that includes Marco Penge, Patrick Reed and Germany’s Freddy Schott.
